2. NET (National Eligibility Test)

The NET exam which is commonly known as UGC NET Exam is a competitive exam that is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to select candidates for awarding the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and to determine the eligibility for Lecturer. To apply for this exam, you must have a Post Graduate degree with at least 55% marks secured from a recognized university. Assistant Professor Salary in Assam as Per UGC 7th Pay Commission

As per the UGC 7th Pay commission, the Central Government and UGC Pay Review Committee had implemented the UGC 7th Pay Commission pay scales for qualified NET Lecturers/Assistant Professor Jobs and Teaching Jobs up to 24%, 16% and 8% as per the Dearness Allowance of the Employer.

With the implementation of 7th pay commission, the first academic level (corresponding to AGP of Rs. 6000) is numbered as academic level 10. Similarly, the other academic levels are 11,12, 134, 14 and 15. Each cell in an academic level is at 3% higher than the previous cell in that level.

What are Academic Levels for Assistant Professors?

As an assistant professor, your academic level can vary depending on the policies and regulations of the institution where you work. In Assam, academic levels for assistant professors are typically designated by a number, such as level 10, 11, 12,13A and 14. 1. Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10) to Assistant Professor (Senior Scale/Academic Level 11)

Assistant Professors who have completed 4 years of service with PhD or 5 years of service with M.Phil / PG Degree in Professional Course such as LLM, MTech, M.V.Sc, MD or 6 years of service for those without PhD/ MPhil/ PG Degree in Professional courses.

  • Attended one Orientation course of 21 days duration on teaching methodology, and
  • Any one of the following – Completed Refresher/ Research Methodology Course

2. Assistant Professor (Senior Scale/Academic Level 11) to Assistant Professor (Selection Grade/Academic Level 12)

  • Assistant Professors who have completed 5 years of service in Academic Level 11.
  • Any two of the following in the last 5 years of Academic Level 11 – Complete courses/ programmes from among the categories of Refresher Courses/ Research Methodology.

Note: The PhD Degree shall be a mandatory qualification for promotion to the post of Assistant Professor (Selection Grade/Academic Level 12) in Colleges.

3. Assistant Professor (Selection Grade/Academic Level 12) to Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A)

  • Selection Grade Assistant Professor who have completed 3 years of service in Academic Level 12.
  • PhD Degree in concerned subject/allied/relevant discipline.

4. Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A) to Professor (Academic Level 14)

  • Associate Professors who have completed 3 yeas of service in Academic Level 13A.
  • PhD Degree in concerned subject/allied/relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 research publications in peer reviewed/ UCG listed journals out of which 3 research papers shall be published during the assessment period.
  • A minimum of 110 Research Score
