Assam Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants who have passed the class 12th exam can apply for the police constable exam/test conducted by the State Level of Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam. They must have completed the course from a recognized Board. Applicants should be aged 18 years and above, but should not exceed 25 years. Age relaxation of 5 years is given to SC/ST Category candidates and 3 years to OBC/MOBC category candidates. In addition, they should qualify for some physical tests and written tests.

Constable Selection Process
The selection process for Police Constable in Assam Police includes several stages. Candidates whose Applications are found correct in all respects will have to undergo the Physical Standards Tests (PST) and Physical Efficiency Tests (PET). If any Candidate is found to have any physical imperfection as may be detected by the Medical Officer present in the Selection Committee, He/ She will be disqualified from participating in the other tests. The candidates who will clear all the selection process stages will be offered a Police Constable job in Assam Police
Here are all the selection process stages to become an Assam police Constable:-
1. Preliminary Document Verification: All the original documents along with a set of Photostat copies of the documents will be checked before the Candidate is allowed to appear in the PST and PET.
2. Physical Standard Test and Preliminary Medical Checkup: After the documents are found correct, the Candidates will have to appear in the PST (Physical Standard Test). It will carry no marks. Measurement of the height, weight & chest ( chest measuring only male) of the Candidates will be done. Once a Candidate clears the PST he/she will have to appear in the PET (Physical Efficiency Test).
3. Physical Efficiency Test: Candidates who clear PST, requires to undergo PET. The PET consists of the following:-
a) Male Candidates
- Race: Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to 3200 metres race to be completed within 14 minutes (840 seconds).
- Long Jump: Minimum 335 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).
b) Female Candidates
- Race: Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to 1600 metres race to be completed within 08 minutes.
- Long Jump: Minimum 244 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).
3. Written Test: Written test consists of 100 multiple choice type questions to be answered on an OMR answer sheet. For each correct answer the Candidate gets half mark. Questions are of the level of class 9 and class 10. Total marks for the Written Test is 50. There is no negative marking.

- General Awareness/ General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
4. Oral/ Viva Voce: The number of Candidates to be called for the Oral/ Viva-Voce based on marks scored
in Physical Efficiency Test and Written Test.
5. Final Merit List: The final result marks will be released by the authority based on marks obtained in each stage. If any candidate fails to achieve the qualifying at any stage then his/her candidacy will be rejected by the authority. After the completion of the selection process, marks of each stage will be separately evaluated and calculated to make the final merit list. The selected list of candidates will be released in the form of a merit list.
Constable Salary Structure
Aspirants who will get selected for the Constable post in Assam will receive salary including basic pay. Travel allowance, uniform allowance, vehicle allowance, housing allowance, and other benefits will also be applicable to them.
