What’s New in UGC NET 2024 Exam?
The University Grand Commission (UGC) has issued a notice stating that from the academic session 2024-25, the UGC NET scores can be used for PhD admission. This decision has been taken to ease the process of getting admission for Ph.D course. The students will no longer have to sit for multiple Ph.D entrance tests that is conducted by various institutions.
This decision was taken in the 578th meeting held on 13 March 2024, based on the recommendations of an expert committee formed. As per the decision, from June 2024 onwards, the UGC NET qualified candidates are eligible in these three categories:-
- Category-1: Eligible for admission to PhD with JRF and for appointment as assistant professor.
- Category-2: Eligible for admission to PhD without JRF and for appointment as assistant professor.
- Category-3: Eligible for admission to PhD programme only.
