UGC NET Score for PhD Admission from 2024-25

UGC NET Score for PhD Admission 2024-25: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided that the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores can be used for PhD admissions starting from the academic session 2024-25. Students will no longer be required to sit for multiple PhD entrance tests conducted by different institutions.

The decision was made during the UGC’s 578th meeting on 13 March 2024, following recommendations from an expert committee assigned to review UGC NET exam provisions.

Students Can Now Use NET Scores To Apply for PhD Admission

Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of the UGC, announced on the social media platform that starting in the academic session 2024–2025, all universities will be able to admit PhD candidates using their NET scores instead of having to administer separate entrance exams at each university or Higher Educational Institution (HEI).

The NET exam is conducted twice a year – June and December. Its scores are currently used to award Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and as eligibility for appointment as an assistant professor for those with a Master’s degree.
