About Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS)
Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is a model residential school specifically for Scheduled Tribes (ST) across India. It is one of the flagship interventions of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India and was introduced in the year 1997-98 to ensure tribal students get access to quality education in the remote tribal areas. EMRS schools are set up in States and Union Territories with grants under Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India. There are around 690 EMRS schools functional across the country, and most of them are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
